About Us
RockysRocks is a wholesaler / Retailer of the recently discovered Utah State stone, Honeycomb Calcite.
History of Honeycomb Calcite
- This semi-previous stone was first discovered by Floyd Anderson in 1995.
- Formed in the Uintah Valley of Utah 500 to 750 million years ago.
This unusual form of Calcite ranges in color from a creamy, pale yellow to a deep, golden, honey amber color. Its coloring is caused by Sulphur inclusions. It gets its name because of this stone’s many small holes and pits, which are typical of aveolar or “honeycomb” weathering – the breadown of rocks on the surface of the Earth by the action of natural elements such as rainwater, temperature extremes and biological activity.
